Poetry Prompt 40: It’s a date

Imagine a world without a piece of technology you take absolutely for granted. Technology that renders you utterly insecure, lost, like a fart in a thunderstorm, without it. Your cellphone. I’m old enough to remember when the only phone we had was plugged into the wall and had rotary dial. In those days when you made a plan you stuck to it, you didn’t need to call three times to confirm and then when you were on the road, and then again when you got there. You did what you said you would do.

I write because I have to. It is a compulsion. I do it to vent, to laugh and to remember. I blog because it has been so long since I had to write with a pen that my hand would go into cramp if I tried to write a journal.

  1. Excellent Victoria. I too remember such times, we didn’t have a phone when I was a kid, we used a neighbours. You are right now though we do want to be too much in each others pockets. Very well done.
