“If you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”
That was my mother’s refrain throughout my teenage years.
I spent a lot of time in sulky silence.
I know I’m saying the same damn thing again and it must sound like an annoying echo in cyberspace, but having the ability to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences online does not give you the right to be downright rude. (see: The Naked Blogger)
I don’t mean you can’t share your own opinion, go for it. But a full-scale assault on a blogger’s comment section is not okay.
You don’t have the right to be an obnoxious git because you didn’t get a blogger award.
It is not kindergarten.
If no-one nominated you as an inspirational blogger maybe you just aren’t that inspirational.
I work in a superficial industry ruled by awards. Who has them and who doesn’t.
If you judge your value by the awards other people have given you, you will never be fulfilled in any way.
You have to find your own excellence.
Once you have done that, the funny thing is, awards follow.
So, back off shooting people down who have won awards where you haven’t.
Don’t be a cry baby, pick yourself up, wipe the snot off your nose and carry on.
This one’s for you.
