A day of silence

A day of silence

Savour the quiet

A voice stilled

The space filled

With colour

Whispers in the wind

The tales of tall old trees

Cicadas playing violin

Birds flying on the breeze

Sultry summer days are coming

The earth crying out in thirst

We watch the clouds scudding by

Waiting for that pregnant burst

And hot hard drops of rain to fall

Plop, a pause, Plop, another …

Then all at once the curtain falls

And the dance begins
